Pat Mawson from RM Strawbale, our local (we are so lucky) strawbale builder extraordinaire, plaster wizard, surfer and friend.
Pat is also the current president of the NZ Earth Building Association EBANZ, in my opinion a very wise choice by the members.
Nils Rock from RM Strawbale is a german trained master carpenter who also has training in eco and passive house architectural design. Nils and Pat created RM Strawbale together several years, and houses, ago… we are indeed double blessed.
It’s great fun to work with Nils and he applies his skill and craftsmanship in everything he does - he cares.
Everett has joined the RM Strawbale team in 2019, and brings with him experience building tiny houses in New Zealand and building strawbale houses in Australia.
Everett has landed running, we enjoy every minute working with him and greatly appreciate his contribution to getting us into our new strawbale home
Kenny Geenty from Advanced Plumbing, is making plumbing to our challenging spec’s look easy, we know its not.. it takes great attitude, skill and plenty of effort, he’s family.
We have also adopted Ayden from Advanced Plumbing and he’s part of the family now too...
Byron Cash is passionate about concrete, he loves working with hard stuff, concrete, rocks etc.. to create things of beauty – it’s art and it’s also fully functional. Byron and his team at Polished Flooring Solutions are polishing our beautiful black concrete floors through the whole house.
He was recommended by a trusted friend and after deciding to go with Byron we had ongoing validation of that decision every time we responded to the question “who’s doing your floor?”, he’s a local living legend.

Martin has been travelling across the world solo on his bike from Europe to Bali, 23,000km’s and is wintering over in NZ before heading off again for more bike adventures in the Southern Hemisphere..
His wintering over choice of Hawkes Bay is our gain, as he comes out to lend a hand and learn from the RM Strawbale team.
Martin has built his own strawbale house and assisted with building many more in Europe - his plaster work and his presence are both beautiful.
Bob and Geoff Tuck are much loved family (father and uncle) and have been supporting our house build from the very beginning. They have provided the power for our caravan accomodation*and for the build itself, as well as completing all the house wiring and fit-off.
We are super lucky to have their combined experience, with great care in design and build and a huge time commitment from them both.
*Bob and Phyliss also lent us their caravan as our on-site accomodation.
